성호(星湖) 선생 묘에서 

넉넉하지 못한 이 땅에

큰 자리로 남았습니다.

벼슬이 목숨줄인 세상에서

깊게 나아가신 세계 있어

그 묵묵한 마음과 사려

천년 잣나무로 살아 있는데

여기 덩그런 무덤만이 있는 듯하여

이 땅 가슴이 숨죽인 듯도 합니다.

그리하여 그 족적은 세월에 썩어 돌아도

그러나, 선각들이 여기 안산에 스며들듯이

그 혼의 숨결 살아

상록수의 꿈으로 우뚝 섭니다.

아, 님이여 하늘과 땅과 저 바다에

검은 연기 그 냄새로 가득찬다 해도

님의 얼이 숨어 나서

보다 빛나는 내일 있습니다.

In this country rather meager

you remain an ample spot.

Having stepped into a profound land of your own deeply

in this world of official ranks making a life line,

your lofty minds and thoughts stay alive

embodied in a thousand-year-old Koran white pine here.

It often may appear that the desolated big tomb here is what is all left behind

and that this land and its hearts stopped breathing all together

Thus getting staple and rotten your big footstep may appear ever with times.

But, as some pioneers slip into this place, Ansan*

The breath of your soul stays alive,

standing as tall as the dream of a evergreen tree.*

Ah, dear! even when the sky, earth, and that sea

are to be filled with black smoke and its smell

The spirit of you dear will rise up silently,

standing next to a more brilliant tomorrow.
